Design-wise, the Phideon are looking for a sporty sedan that employs Volkswagen's new styling language. In front, it brings a new face of the brand company with a wide grille with horizontal slats and large, full LED headlights. The front fascia is actually based on the C Coupe GTE Concept, introduced at the Auto Shanghai 2015, and have the nearly identical bumper. Phideon profile is simple yet elegant, with a visible character lines running from front fenders and above the door handle all the way to the deck lid. The rear unites styling cues seen on both the new Passat and the C Coupe GTE. The rear lights are very attractive, featuring a two-tier design with chrome inserts and four different LED clusters. Wrap-around chrome strip in the lower body and stainless exhaust pipes give the car a premium appearance. Volkswagen said that Phideon marked the debut of the new face of Volkswagen's luxury sedan, so expect to see the same styling cues on upcoming products. Indeed, Phideon is a stylish four-door and I would not mind to see the next-generation Phaeton by it.

2017 Volkswagen Phideon Engine

The Phideon will be launched with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine rated at 296 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The plant will mate with all-wheel drive system of the company and will power 3.0 TSI 4Motion model range-topping. A 2.0-liter, turbo-four powerplant will also be offered later, followed by plug-in hybrid. Volkswagen refused to divulge information about this drivetrains, but the four-cylinder engine is likely to be borrowed from the new Passat. In China, the word engine pumps 217 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in the mid-sized sedan. As a hybrid, it can be found in the same combo Passat GTE, which Mates 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, electric motor, and gearbox DSG. In the Passat, total output sits at 215 horsepower and 295 pound-feet, while the total estimated range of 622 miles (1,001 km), a figure that will probably go down in a larger vehicle.
